Shine the Light in Harlem

Join CONNECT and the Upper Manhattan Domestic Violence Services Coalition for the annual Walk and Speak Out against Domestic Violence.

We begin this walk on 116th St. and St. Nichoals Ave. and walk to the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Plaza, 125th Street and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. where the event will conclude with a Speak Out • Wear purple in solidarity!

Join us and Tanya McLeod a survivor of domestic violence, advocate, community organizer who will perform her One Woman Monologue: “I Am.. ..A Batterer, Child Survivor of DV & A Victim / Survivor of DV.” Tanya created this short monologue in order to give an inside view of the different perspectives of domestic violence. It is her desire to turn her pain unto power and pave a positive path for other victims / survivors and their children to walk upon.  We all need to work together to break the cycle of violence. Discussion and Q&A will follow the performance.
