Sharene Roig, MA, Ed.M., Coordinator of CONNECT Women and Girls Programs
Sharene, a Latina born and raised in the heart of the South Bronx, is a professional with over 21 years’ experience as an antiviolence advocate and educator, specializing in intimate partner violence and its root causes. She has worked in direct service, grassroots organizing, community training and women’s and girls’ empowerment. She is a full-time Trainer and Educator for the CONNECTTraining Institute (CTI) and CONNECT’s Community Empowerment Program (CEP).
Sharene is one of the lead trainers for “Understanding Domestic Violence: Essentials & Intersections.”
She runs support groups for victims and survivors in English and in Spanish, facilitates a monthly women’s roundtable, trains doulas and healthcare professions to screen for partner/spousal abuse, and provides technical assistance to CONNECT community partners throughout NYC.She received a dual Master’s in Counseling and Education at Columbia University Teachers College.
